Independent 3rd Party view of the client’s Cyber Security Stance
Problem:
With Cyber Insurance there are documents that the customer must complete to obtain their respective cyber insurance coverage. These questions are usually answered by their MSP (Managed Services Provider) or their internal IT department if they have one.
The problem with this is that quite often the answers are not complete, or the answers are responded to incorrectly. Therefore, if a cyber incident were to happen and the insurance company does a review of the responses to their questions this could create an issue with the claim failing.
Solution:
It would be much safer for the customer to get a 3rd party ISO 27001 ISMS (Information Security Management System) certified specialist team in to work with either the customer directly or their outsourced IT provider to validate that the responses to the questionnaire on-site to make sure that:
- Their security is at a sufficient level and their IT infrastructure is sound.
- If not, then suggestions will be made to rectify and improve the findings to get things up to a satisfactory level.
